2.1 - Starting an Export Business in Fiji

As an exporter, you will be required to register a legal entity in Fiji before you commence your export business. Given below are the steps taken by Foreign (2.1a) and Local (2.1b) businesses when preparing to export.

2.1a - FOREIGN BUSINESS SETUP

Reserve company name with Registrar of Companies

Apply for FIRC from InvFJ

Apply for work permit from Department of Immigration (if required)

Apply for appropriate export/import permits as outlined in the Guide

2.1b - LOCAL BUSINESS SETUP

Obtain National Fire Authority certificate

Compliance to Occupational Health and Safety

Apply for appropriate export/import permits as outlined in the guide

2.2 - Summary of Processes for Key Sectors

Different Agencies in Fiji are responsible for the approvals or issuance of export licences for different products that are exported from Fiji. In some cases, one step in the process must be completed before the next can be started. The table below provides a summary of the Agencies responsible for approval or providing advice and direction on exports from the key sectors.
